South and Central Asia: Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns' Travel to Afghanistan
Deputy Secretary of State Burns arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan May 11, 2013. The Deputy Secretary will lead U.S. participation at the second meeting of the U.S.-Afghanistan Bilateral Commission, created to advance cooperation and monitor progress made in advancing the U.S.-Afghanistan Enduring Strategic Partnership Agreement. Deputy Secretary Burns also will meet with senior Afghan, U.S., and ISAF officials in Kabul to discuss a wide range of regional and bilateral issues.
