South and Central Asia: Assistant Secretary of State Biswal Travel to Turkmenistan

Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal will lead a U.S. interagency delegation to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, January 13-15 for the third U.S-Turkmenistan Annual Bilateral Consultations. The Annual Bilateral Consultations are a regular mechanism for discussing the full range of issues in the U.S.-Turkmenistan relationship and strengthening collaboration between the two countries. While in Ashgabat, Assistant Secretary Biswal will also meet with senior Turkmenistani officials.

 

These consultations will focus on all aspects of U.S.-Turkmenistan cooperation and engagement, including regional security issues, such as ongoing efforts to support stability in Afghanistan; growing economic and trade relations; development of social and cultural ties; and advancement of human rights
